North Coast CNPS
Plant Sales

SPRING PLANT SALE:
The North Coast Chapter will hold its 2008 Spring Plant Sale Saturday May 3 and Sunday May 4 10 am to 4pm, at the Spring Wildflower Show, Manila Community Center, 1611 Peninsula Drive, Manila - across the bay from Eureka.

A wide array of native plants will be available, from wildflowers to trees and shrubs, and experienced growers will help answer your questions and assist in choosing plants.

Bring the beauty of Humboldt's forests, meadows and dunes to your garden! All proceeds benefit the North Coast Chapter. For more information, or to volunteer to grow plants for the sales, contact Anda Webb 707-443-9153.

"THE ADOPT-A-PLANT PROGRAM NEEDS GROWERS"

...to help propagate and grow native plants for our plant sales.

The Chapter provides soil, pots and labels (seeds too, in some cases). If you have space to put a dozen or more one-gallon pots, you can contribute to our biggest fund-raiser. Plant Sales are held in May and September, so it’s any time is a good time to start growing.

The following is a list of suggestions, but any native plant you'd like to grow is welcome!

red-flowering currant
western azalea
Aristolochia (pipe vine)
evergreen huckleberry
shredding ninebark
wax myrtle
dogwood
snowberry (thanks to the beautiful specimen in Carol's Native Arboretum, we had a lot of requests)
silk tassel
Douglas iris

Other requests included chain fern, phlox, ocean spray, and more wetland plants for around ponds.

Don't let this list limit your ideas - almost every plant found a permanent home, including 3 types of ferns, shore pines, and coyote brush.

For pots and soil, ideas on where to obtain seeds or cuttings, or other ideas for plants to grow, contact   Jen Kalt, Plant Sales Coordinator.
